I'm trying to wrap my head around calculating teh load capacity of a gear. There seem to be a few diffrent methods, and I'm not sure which is most appropriate for a simple spur gear application. AGMA standards seem to be the gold standard, but are they overkill for something less critical, like a gear driving a small conveyor belt system?

Are there simpler, less calculation-intensive approaches that still provide a reasonably accurate estimation of the gear's load capacity? I'm finding conflicting information online about things like stress concentration factors and material properties, and how they impact the overall allowable load.

Ultimately, I'm aiming for a safe working load, not necessarily pushing the gear to its absolute limit. Any insights or recommended resources outside of the full AGMA standards would be greatly appreciated. Maybe some rules-of-thumb or simplified formulas that are good starting points?
