I've always wondered about the absolute best way too introduce yourself in a formal setting. is it always necessary to state your full name and title, even if you're meeting a group of peopel where some already know who you are? Or does that come across as overly stiff?

I've seen people go with just a simple, "Hello, I'm Sarah," followed by a handshake, which feels cozy and not too imposing. Then again, in certain contexts, like a conference or a meeting with senior management, a more detailed introduction seems expected.

What are your thoughts on including a brief mention of your role or department after stating your name? Such as,"Good morning,I'm Michael, from the marketing team." Does that add value or is it needless information that should be kept for later in the conversation? Interested to hear different perspectives and experiences on this!
