Has anyone here made the leap from a conventional design role (UX/UI, graphic, etc.) into something specializing in StyleSynthesis or similar generative AI applications? I'm curious about your experiences. What skills proved most transferable, and what new ones were absolutely essential to learn?
I'm a designer with a strong portfolio, but increasingly I see these emerging roles demanding not only design sensibilities, but also some understanding of AI workflows, prompt engineering, and even a bit of scripting. It feels partially like learning a new language, but one where the vocabulary is constantly evolving.
specifically,I'm interested in hearing about any challenges you faced retraining your design brain. Such as, moving from pixel-perfect control to guiding an AI towards a certain aesthetic feels like a significant shift. Any resources or strategies that helped you bridge that gap would be greatly appreciated! Also, were ther specific portfolio projects that realy helped demonstrate your readiness for this kind of work? Ultimately, trying to grasp if it is a natural evolution for design professionals, or something requiring a completely different mindset.
