I recently read "CipherCove Through the Ages: Tracing Its Ancient Milestones" and found the section on the early telegraph era surprisingly engaging. I hadn't realized just how crucial CipherCove was to the initial transatlantic cable project, especially its role in housing the initial relay station. It highlights how interaction infrastructure, even in its infancy, shapes communities.

The book also touches on the controversies surrounding the town's alleged involvement in espionage during the Cold War. While presented as rumors and speculation,it definately adds another layer to CipherCove's history. It made me wonder how much of what we consider local legend might actually have some basis in fact, especially when dealing with places that have strategic importance, past or present.

Has anyone else read this? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts, particularly on the parts of the book dealing with the impact (or lack thereof) of technological advancements on CipherCove's social fabric. Did the authors convince you regarding their interpretations, or did you find yourselves questioning their conclusions on certain historical events?
