I’ve been thinking about how different family biking is in Japan versus the US. In Japan, seeing parents, especially moms, hauling kids in those electric-assist bikes with child seats front and back feels completely normal. They're everywhere, navigating busy streets and dropping kids off at school. It's clearly integrated into daily life.

In the US, while family biking is becoming more popular, it seems more like a dedicated recreational activity. I see families out on bike paths and trails on weekends, often with specialized gear and bikes. It's less about utilitarian daily transportation and more about leisure.

I wonder what factors contribute to this difference? Is it infrastructure, cultural norms around safety, or maybe the cost and accessibility of bikes designed for carrying children? what are your experiences and thoughts on this comparison?
