I've been getting into small woodworking projects lately, things like boxes, small shelves, adn decorative pieces. I'm finding myself constantly debating whether to reach for my hand tools or power tools. On one hand, using hand tools like chisels and hand planes is incredibly satisfying and gives me a real connection to the wood. Plus, cleanup is way easier and it's much quieter.
but on the other hand, power tools like my jigsaw and sander significantly speed up the process, especially when dealing with repetitive cuts or needing a super smooth finish. It really feels like there's a trade-off between efficiency and the satisfying, meticulous work of hand tools.
For those of you who do small woodworking, what's your general approach? Do you lean heavily towards one or the other, or do you find a balance depending on the specific project? Any tips or considerations you've found helpful in deciding which approach to take? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
