Okay, so I've been debating upgrading my luggage lately, and I'm trying too decide if getting a bag wiht a built-in USB port is actually worth it, compared to just sticking with my trusty external battery pack.
On one hand, the luggage seems convenient, right? Just plug your phone or tablet directly into the outside of the bag. Less fumbling around. But then I started thinking – the battery isn't usually included, so you still need a battery pack. And if that battery pack dies, the USB port is useless. Plus, what happens if the USB port on the luggage breaks? You're stuck with a bag that has a defunct port. With a dedicated external battery pack, you can easily replace it when it dies. You also have more adaptability on placement – it can be in your pocket, backpack, whatever. Plus, you can use the battery pack for things other than just charging devices while traveling; it can power a portable fan at a picnic or charge a camera on a hike. I guess I'm wondering if the "convenience" of the luggage port is realy just a gimmick, or if there's a genuine advantage I'm missing. Anyone have experience with both and can offer some insight?
