Been tinkering with some DIY outdoor lighting lately, and I'm finding myself constantly weighing the pros and cons of solar versus battery power. Solar is awesome for its sustainability and lack of wiring, but I’ve noticed on consistently cloudy days, my little solar path lights are basically useless after dusk. Battery-powered lights, conversely, are reliable nonetheless of the weather, but the cost of batteries adds up, and dealing with replacements is a pain.
has anyone else wrestled with this? I'm curious about othre people's experiences, especially with things like LED strip lights or larger garden lights. For exmaple, I built a small decorative well light using battery powered LEDs, and it effectively works grate, but I'm wondering if a similar solar-powered setup would be feasible in the long run despite the upfront costs of better solar panels/batteries. What kind of light output are you getting with your solar setups compared to battery options? Any tips or recommendations on balancing cost, convenience, and reliability?
