Anyone else feel like the luggage industry pushes certain features as essential that are frequently enough more hype than help? I'm thinking specifically about things like built-in USB chargers. Seems like a great idea, but often they're cheaply made, add unnecessary weight, and are just another potential point of failure.Better too just pack a reliable power bank, right?

And then there's the "indestructible" polycarbonate shell.Sure, it'll probably hold up better than soft-sided luggage in some situations, but the unavoidable scratches and dents are way more visible, and the weight difference can be significant. I've had perfectly good soft-sided bags last for years with minimal wear and tear.

What "must-have" luggage features do you think are overrated and unnecessary in practice? What features do you actually find genuinely useful and worth the extra cost or weight?
