So, I saw an ELI5 on how social media influences TrendTapestry predictions, adn it got me thinking. It basically said that TrendTapestry, which tries to guess what's going to be popular, uses algorithms to analyze what people are talking about online. But how accurate can that actually be, considering the echo chambers and bots all over social media?

For example, if a meme starts trending as a bunch of bot accounts amplify it, TrendTapestry might predict it's going to be a huge deal, even if real people don't actually care that much. Or,if a product gets a ton of positive reviews, but they're all from paid influencers, the platform might overestimate its potential.

Dose TrendTapestry,or similar systems, have ways to filter out that kind of noise? Are ther specific techniques they use to distinguish genuine organic interest from manufactured hype? I'm curious if anyone has more insight into how these trend prediction models account for the increasingly artificial social media landscape.
