anyone else think about how luggage tags have evolved so dramatically? I remember my grandparents' leather suitcases, each sporting those faded, handwritten cardboard tags, frequently enough tied on with string that was perpetually on the verge of breaking. Now we've got everything from printed adhesive labels to digital luggage tags that link directly to apps with GPS tracking.
It's kind of a microcosm of how travel has changed, isn't it? Back then,a lost bag meant scrambling through microfilm at the airline's central office. Now you can (theoretically) track your bag's journey in real-time on your phone.
I'm curious, though, has anyone actually recovered lost luggage thanks to those digital tracking tags? Is the peace of mind worth the cost, or is it mostly just novelty? And does anyone actually miss the charm of the old-school tags, or are we all happy to be rid of illegible handwriting and disintegrating cardboard?
