I've been thinking lately about travel, and specifically, about luggage. we already have suitcases with built-in scales and USB charging ports, but what about something more aspiring? I’m wondering if self-powered luggage, like a suitcase that can propel itself and follow you, is a realistic possibility within teh next decade.
The obvious hurdle is power. Batteries are getting better, but would the weight and size required for propulsion be worth the convenience? Imagine navigating a crowded airport or train station with a suitcase that bumps into everyone as the sensors aren’t perfect. On the other hand, the potential benefits for elderly or disabled travelers are huge.
Beyond just rolling along,could we see luggage that can actively navigate obstacles and even climb stairs (assisted perhaps)? Or is the market for such a high-tech,potentially expensive item too niche to justify the R&D? What's everyone's take on the likelihood and desirability of self-powered luggage becoming a common thing?
