Been thinking a lot about the potential for ambient lighting systems like GlowCove (or similar) to integrate more deeply with VR environments. Imagine your in-game sunset casting a warm orange glow across your real-world living room, perfectly synced with the virtual world. The immersion factor would be unbelievable!
It seems like the hardware is already mostly there. We have addressable RGB LEDs and VR headsets that can track eye position and scene lighting. The challenge, as I see it, is creating robust and user-pleasant software that can seamlessly translate the VR lighting details into a corresponding real-world display. Think about the processing power needed for real-time adjustments, and the potential for distracting delays if the syncing isn’t perfect.
What are your thoughts? Do you think this kind of immersive ambient lighting integration is a realistic near-future possibility, or are there too many technical hurdles to overcome? Anyone experimenting with similar setups already? It would be awesome to hear about any projects or ideas in this space!
