Just came across a really helpful "Beginner's Guide to Selecting the Right Fasteners for Your Project" adn thought it was worth sharing. It goes over things like material compatibility (galvanic corrosion is a real pain!), different head types for various applications, and even basic load calculations. I always seem to grab whatever screw is closest, and than end up stripping the head or having it corrode in a few months.
The guide also touched on less common fasteners like rivets and specialty bolts.I'm definitely going to be thinking twice before using deck screws for everything now.Anyone else have a good resource for fastener selection they'd recommend? Or maybe a horror story of using the wrong fastener for the job? I once tried using drywall screws to hold together a bookshelf... didn't end well, haha.
