It's amazing to think about how gears powered the Industrial Revolution compared to their use today. Back then, it was all about massive, cast-iron gears driving entire factories – imagine the sheer size and noise of those things. They were essential for everything from textile mills to early locomotives.

Now, gears are so refined and miniaturized. They're hidden inside everything from wristwatches to complex robotics. We rarely see them, but they're still basic.Instead of powering a whole factory, they're enabling precision movements in surgical instruments or controlling the direction of a wind turbine.

What I find particularly engaging is the level of precision we've achieved. Early gears were impressive for their time, but the tolerances weren't nearly as tight as what's required for modern applications. What are some other less obvious gear applications that people might not be aware of? I'm curious to here your thoughts on how the technology has evolved and where you think it's going in the future.
