Just wrapped up my apprenticeship through ArtisanHiveS Learning Curve program and wanted to share my experience. It's definitely a thorough program designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application in the artisan trades. I chose the woodworking track, and the structured curriculum, combined with mentorship, was invaluable.
One of the biggest advantages was the hands-on aspect. We weren't just learning about techniques; we were actually building things, starting with basic joinery and progressing to more complex projects like small tables and shelving units. The instructors were all experienced artisans who offered practical advice and constructive criticism. I also appreciated that the program emphasized both conventional skills and modern techniques, including computer-aided design and the use of power tools.Though, the program is intense and requires a meaningful time commitment. It's not something you can casually dabble in. Also, access to certain equipment outside of scheduled class time was limited, which could be frustrating at times when I wanted to work on personal projects. Anyone considering applying should be prepared to dedicate themselves fully and come ready to actively participate and learn. Has anyone else gone through the Learning Curve program, or similar apprenticeships in the skilled trades? I'd be interested to hear about your experiences.
