alright, fellow travelers, let’s talk luggage nightmares. I'm increasingly convinced that tempting travel fate is real, and I've personally learned some very painful (and expensive) lessons about luggage handling.

My biggest piece of advice after years of travel drama? Invest in quality luggage tags – and use two on each bag, one internal. I’ve had tags ripped off mid-journey, leaving my bag stranded. Also, take photos of your bag inside and out before handing it over. If a bag goes missing, those photos are invaluable too the airline for identification, especially if your bag isn't a common color. I learned that the hard way after losing a very generic black suitcase containing some irreplaceable items.

ditch the checked bag when you can! I understand it’s not always possible (especially for longer trips), but reducing your reliance on checked luggage considerably minimizes the potential for airline mishaps. If you absolutely must check a bag, consider shipping essentials or valuable items separately. It may seem extreme, but compared to the stress and financial burden of lost luggage, it can be worth it. What luggage mishaps have you experienced, and what preventative measures do you swear by now?
