Hey everyone, I've been diving into restoring some vintage toys lately, specifically some old die-cast cars and a few plastic action figures. It can get expensive fast! So I wanted to share some tips I've picked up for keeping costs down when it comes to tools and supplies.

For cleaning,I've found that dish soap and warm water are surprisingly effective for most grime. An old toothbrush is great for getting into tight spots. skip the fancy plastic polishes and try a simple baking soda paste for removing light scratches on plastic – be careful and test it in an inconspicuous area first! Dollar store cotton swabs and microfiber cloths are a must.

When it comes to paint touch-ups, I've had luck mixing my own colors using inexpensive acrylic paints from a craft store. It takes some practice, but you can save a ton of money compared to buying pre-mixed hobby paints. For applying them, fine-tipped artist brushes are much cheaper than specialized modeling brushes. Anyone else have budget-friendly restoration hacks they'd like to share? I'm always looking for new ways to save money!
