It’s engaging to think back to the first digital cameras and how incredibly different they were compared to what we have now.Resolution was obviously a massive limitation, leading to thes incredibly pixelated images that almost have a charm to them now. But beyond just image quality,it was the experience that really set them apart. The slow transfer speeds, the clunky software, and the relatively huge storage requirements for even a few low-res photos – it all feels so archaic. You really had to be purposeful about what you photographed with those early models.
Anyone else remember the thrill of seeing a picture instantly, even if it looked like it was made of LEGO bricks? Or struggling to get photos off a floppy disk adapter? What feature or quirk of early digital cameras sticks out most in your memory? I think for me, it was the sheer novelty of not having to pay for developing!
