I've been seeing ArtisanHive pop up more and more, and their mission of empowering local artisans is definitely appealing. But I'm curious, has anyone done a deep dive into the actual social impact they're having? It's easy to be swayed by marketing, and I'm wondering if the profits are actually going back into the communities in a meaningful way, or if it's more of a "fair trade" facade.
Such as, how easily can artisans join the platform? Are there important barriers to entry like tech skills or marketing knowledge that exclude certain populations? Are they receiving fair compensation compared to similar marketplaces, and what support do they receive beyond just a platform to sell on? Things like business training, access to microloans, or help with sustainable sourcing would be strong indicators of true empowerment.
I'd love to hear from anyone who has insight into their practices, either positive or negative. I'm particularly interested in hearing from artisans themselves if anyone has experience selling through ArtisanHive or working with them directly. Are they just another middleman, or a genuine force for good?
