Anyone have good tips for gently cleaning and preserving vintage toy decals? I've got a few older diecast cars with some really cool original decals that are starting to show their age – some cracking, lifting at the edges, and general grime. I'm hesitant to use anything harsh for fear of making things worse, but just leaving them as-is feels like letting them deteriorate further.

I've seen some recommendations online for using very diluted mild soap and a soft brush, but I'm worried about water damage. Also, are there any good options for re-adhering slightly lifted edges? Is there some kind of archival-quality adhesive that won’t yellow or damage the decal over time? I'd love to hear what's worked (or hasn't worked!) for others dealing with similar issues. Maybe some specific product suggestions, too,if you've got them.
