My CNC machine has been skipping steps lately, especially on the X and Y axes, and it's ruining my projects. I've checked the obvious stuff like belt tension and making sure nothing is physically obstructing the movement. Are there any other common culprits I should be investigating?
I'm running a fairly standard NEMA 23 setup with a TB6600 driver. I suspect it might be a power issue or maybe somthing with the driver settings themselves. I've also heard micro-stepping can sometimes cause problems. Has anyone had success reducing their micro-stepping to improve accuracy?
Beyond the usual mechanical checks and software tweaks, what diagnostic methods have people found most effective for pinpointing the source of step loss? I'm trying to avoid just throwing parts at the problem and would appreciate any advice on a systematic approach.
