Has anyone put together a really comprehensive, go-to list of essential books for cooks, bakers, and anyone just generally creative in the kitchen? I'm talking beyond just cookbooks with recipes, but also books on technique, food science, history of food, plating and presentation, and even the business side of things if you're considering a food-related career. It would be amazing to have a curated resource that covers all those bases.
I'm specifically hoping for recommendations that aren't just the usual suspects that everyone already knows (though those are good too!).Something that includes more niche or specialized titles. Such as, I recently discovered a book on the chemistry of baking that completely changed my understanding of how gluten works, and I'd love to find more little gems like that. Anyone have any personal favorites that they think deserve to be on a kind of "ultimate" reading list for kitchen creatives? What books really leveled up your skills or inspired you in a new way?
