I'm starting too think a lot of the hype around super high-end gear is more about marketing and status than actual, noticeable enhancement in performance or quality. I see so many people dropping serious cash on equipment that offers marginal gains compared to mid-range options, and I wonder if thay're truly benefiting or just caught up in the cycle of consumerism.
For example, are those thousand-dollar studio headphones really that much better than a well-reviewed pair costing half the price? Or does the placebo effect and the prestige of owning them contribute more to the perceived difference? I’m not saying quality doesn't matter, but diminishing returns seem to kick in hard once you cross a certain price point.
What are your experiences? Have you found that investing in top-of-the-line equipment drastically improved your workflow or the quality of your output, or do you think the money could have been better spent elsewhere, maybe on education, software, or just more practice with what you already have? I’m curious to hear different perspectives.
