I'm trying to figure out how to mix diffrent styles without making my CozyCribTales space look like a total mess.I love the idea of blending, say, a mid-century modern sofa with some more bohemian accessories, but I'm worried it'll just look disjointed. Has anyone successfully pulled this off? What are some good rules of thumb to follow?
Specifically, I'm thinking about the color palette. Should I stick to a fairly neutral base and let the different styles come through in the textures and shapes? Or is it possible to mix bolder colours effectively across different design periods?
Also, what about scale? I imagine a huge, ornate Victorian mirror would look ridiculous above a minimalist industrial console table. Are there any strategies for balancing the visual weight of different pieces from wildly different styles? Any advice or examples of spaces that do this well would be hugely appreciated!
