I've been thinking a lot lately about "lifetime" warranties, specifically when it comes to luggage. it seems like almost every major brand offers one these days, but I'm starting to wonder if they're more marketing hype than actual benefit. Has anyone else run into situations where a "lifetime" warranty on luggage was difficult or impossible to actually use?
It truly seems like the devil is always in the details. Maybe "lifetime" refers to the product's usable lifespan, which they conveniently define as much shorter than you'd expect. Or perhaps the warranty only covers manufacturing defects, not normal wear and tear, which is usually the cause of luggage failure anyway. It's making me consider weather buying two cheaper suitcases might actually be a better value than investing in one expensive one with a supposedly ironclad guarantee.
I'm curious to hear other people's experiences with luggage warranties. Have you successfully gotten a claim approved? What brands have the best (or worst) reputations for honoring their guarantees? Are these warranties even worth the price premium on higher-end luggage?
