Been battling a minor ant problem lately and it's got me thinking about DIY vs. professional pest control. On one hand, grabbing some ant traps and spraying around the foundation seems way cheaper upfront. A bottle of spray is like $10, and some traps are another $15. But, will it actually get rid of the problem, or just keep it at bay?
Then there's the professional route. I got a quote from a local company for about $300 for an initial treatment and then $100 quarterly for maintenance. Obviously, a bigger investment, but they guarantee their work and use specialized equipment and chemicals.
So, it really boils down to cost vs. effectiveness, right? Has anyone had a situation where DIY totally solved a pest problem,or conversely,a time where you paid for pros and it wasn't worth the money? I'm curious to hear about different experiences and what kind of infestations you were dealing with. Maybe short-term issues are fine for DIY, but larger, persistent problems require the professionals?
