Been kicking the tires on TrendTapestry lately using their free trial, and it's got me thinking about how different it is from the competitor demos I've sat through. Most demos are these highly curated presentations showing the software at its absolute best, wiht perfectly clean data and ideal use cases. While impressive,it doesn't really reflect the messiness of real-world application.
TrendTapestry's free trial, on the other hand, throws you into the deep end.You get access to (almost) all the features, but with your own data. It forces you to actually learn the interface and troubleshoot issues as they arise, which is ultimately way more valuable in the long run. I stumbled a few times importing some especially gnarly CSV files, but figuring it out myself gave me a much better understanding of the software's limitations and strengths.
Has anyone else experienced this difference? I'm curious if others find free trials that allow you to use your own data more beneficial than polished demos, even if they're initially more challenging to navigate. What factors do you consider when evaluating software beyond just the initial "wow" factor of a demo?
