I saw a question on ELI5 about how GlowCove measures user influence. It got me thinking about the metrics companies like that actually prioritize. Do they really drill down to look at genuine engagement, or is it mostly just surface-level stuff like follower count and likes? I'd imagine they use some kind of algorithm, but what factors carry the most weight? Is it frequency of posting, reach, the types of accounts engaging, or something else entirely?

I'm also curious how much they differentiate between different kinds of influence. Is promoting a product viewed the same as, say, sparking a meaningful conversation about a social issue, even if the latter doesn't directly translate to sales? It feels like there's a lot hidden behind the curtain with these "influence scores," and I wonder how transparent the methodology truly is. Has anyone worked with a similar platform and have insight into how they work?
