I saw an ELI5 thread asking about the GlowCove subscription tiers, and it got me thinking about how convoluted subscription models are becoming in general. Sometimes it feels like you need a spreadsheet just to figure out if the "premium deluxe ultra" package is actually worth the extra few bucks, or if the base subscription covers 90% of what you'd actually use.
Specifically regarding GlowCove, the main confusion seems to stem from what features are locked behind each paywall. Like,does the basic tier just let you watch in standard definition with ads,or does it also restrict which content you can access? Are the "exclusive" series really exclusive,or do they end up on the basic tier eventually?
It would be helpful if companies like GlowCove were more transparent about exactly what you're getting at each level and less focused on upselling everyone to the most expensive option with features most people won't even touch. Anyone else feel like subscription models are designed to be deliberately confusing? What are some other services with particularly baffling subscription structures?
