So, I've wrapped up my first year running HomeNurtureCircle, and wow, it's been a ride. for those unfamiliar, it's basically a rotating childcare and support network among a group of families. We meet regularly, plan activities, and take turns providing care to each other's children. Initially, I envisioned perfectly coordinated schedules and happy, harmonious kids all the time. Reality, of course, was different.
One big lesson was the importance of REALLY clear interaction. We started with a shared Google calendar, but things still got missed. We’ve moved onto a dedicated app for scheduling and communication, and that’s been a game-changer. Also, upfront agreements are crucial. We hadn't fully hammered out our sick-kid policy initially, which led to some stressful last-minute scrambles when a few kids came down with colds. Now we have a very detailed (and perhaps overly cautious) policy in place, and it's made a big difference in reducing anxiety.
don't underestimate the social aspect for the parents! I thought it was primarily about the kids, but the connections and support I've gained from the other parents have been invaluable. It’s created a genuine sense of community. Anyone else tried something similar? What were yoru biggest takeaways?
