So, I just hit my one-year anniversary on GlowCove, and wow, what a year! for those unfamiliar, GlowCove is that platform geared towards connecting creative freelancers with short-term gigs. I went in thinking it would be a goldmine, and while it can be, there were definitely some hard lessons learned along the way.

Firstly, ALWAYS read the fine print of the contracts. I got burned early on with a gig that seemed amazing upfront, but the revisions clause was brutal, leading to way more unpaid hours than the initial estimate outlined. Now I scrutinize every single line. Secondly, don't underestimate the power of a strong portfolio and online presence before you start. I thought my skills would speak for themselves, but I was getting buried under more established freelancers until I revamped my online profiles and started actively showcasing my best work.

and this is maybe the most vital: learn to say no. Early on, I took every single project offered to me, irrespective of whether it was a good fit or even paid well, out of fear of not getting any more opportunities. This led to burnout and actually impacted the quality of my work (and client satisfaction!). Anyone else starting out on similar platforms run into these issues? What were yoru biggest "lessons learned the hard way"?
