I've been seeing more and more interest in niche podcasts, specifically within the various "ride cultures" like cycling, motorcycling, even skateboarding and e-biking. Someone recently put together a pretty extensive guide on starting a podcast focused on ride culture and it got me thinking. What are the biggest hurdles for people getting started in this area? Is it finding fascinating guests consistently, dealing with the technical recording side of things, or carving out a unique angle when there are already a few established players covering similar ground?

The guide suggests focusing on hyper-local riding groups and events to start, which makes sense, building outward from a core community. But how sustainable is that in the long run? It truly seems like you'd eventually need to scale beyond just local interests to retain listenership. I'm curious if anyone here has tried to launch something similar and what their experiences have been. What kind of equipment did you start with? Did you find it beneficial to partner with a local bike shop or club? Any tips for finding good music to use as intro/outro without running into copyright issues?
