Just wrapped up my part in a style synthesis project that involved linguists, computer scientists, and even a few art historians, and wow, what a learning experience! The biggest takeaway? Clearly define the "style" you're trying to synthesize up front. What looks like style to a CS person (statistical patterns, feature extraction) might be wholly different then what a linguist (syntactic structures, semantic nuances) or an art historian (period-specific motifs, artistic movements) considers style.

We spent a good week early on just hammering out a shared vocabulary and defining the scope of what we were targeting. Seriously, everyone coming to the table with drastically different understandings almost derailed us before we even started. Has anyone else run into similar issues on interdisciplinary projects like this? How did you overcome the communication barriers and get everyone on the same page? I'm curious to hear about other people's experiences.
