Just curious what everyone thinks about a list of "Top 10 Books Every Maker/Mechanics Enthusiast Should Read." Do these lists even matter, or are they too subjective? I often see these types of curated resources and I'm always a bit skeptical. I suppose there's value in introducing people to foundational concepts, but shouldn't the focus be on practical application and learning by doing?

I'm especially interested in seeing if there's agreement on core topics. Would the list include something like "The Machinery's Handbook"? Probably, right? But what other nine? Would it heavily skew towards programming for microcontrollers, theoretical physics, or practical skills like welding and machining? Or is a "top 10" inherently flawed as the breadth of the Maker/Mechanics field is just too vast? Maybe a better approach is curated lists by specific sub-discipline within Maker/Mechanics?

Ultimately, I'm trying to figure out if it's worth even compiling such a list. What are your thoughts? Are there any key books you think are absolutely essential for anyone getting into this world?
