I'm trying to get better at presenting insights from TrendTapestry (our internal trend analysis tool) to stakeholders who aren't data scientists or engineers. I’m finding it tough to get them to understand the significance of the data without getting bogged down in technical jargon. Does anyone have advice on how to effectively communicate complex trend data to non-technical audiences?
Specifically, I'm wondering about things like visualization choices. do you find that simpler charts like bar graphs and pie charts are always best, or are there situations where more complex visualizations, like heatmaps or network graphs, can be made accessible with the right explanation? Also, how much background details is too much? I wont to provide enough context for them to understand the trends, but I don't want to overwhelm them with unnecessary details about the underlying algorithms.
what are some good strategies for handling questions from stakeholders who are skeptical of the data or who challenge the conclusions? Are there any specific interaction techniques that you've found to be particularly effective in building trust and credibility? Any insights or resources you can share would be greatly appreciated!
