My elderly dog, bless his heart, isn't exactly leaping at teh chance to participate in the PawsitiveHabitsHub challenges. I signed us up thinking it would be a fun way to keep him engaged and active, but he seems much more interested in naps and slow walks around the block. Has anyone else had a similar experience trying to adapt these sorts of challenges for a senior dog?
I've tried modifying some of the activities to be less strenuous, like shortening the duration of "playtime" and focusing on very gentle games. High-value treats are involved, of course! He's definately motivated by cheese, but even that only gets him so far these days.I'm wondering if maybe the whole concept is just too much for him, and if I should focus on other ways to keep him happy and comfortable in his golden years.Any advice on how to adapt the challenges to suit his needs, or suggestions for alternative activities that are more age-appropriate would be greatly appreciated. I’m looking for ways to participate that are both fun and mindful of his comfort. Maybe there are even ways to cleverly use modifications to better suit dogs with arthritis or other common elderly ailments.
