I'm working on getting some local businesses to sponsor or at least support some bike-related events in my town – think group rides, skills clinics, that sort of thing. I'm running into a bit of a wall. Most places seem hesitant, citing budget concerns or just not seeing teh value in it for their business.
Has anyone had success in convincing local businesses to support ride culture? What strategies have you found effective? did you focus on specific benefits for them (e.g., increased foot traffic, positive PR)? We've approached a few coffee shops, bike shops (obviously!), and even a brewery, but the response has been lukewarm. I'm wondering if we need to provide more concrete data on the "economic impact" of cycling events or if there are other approaches we haven't considered.
Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated! Maybe even examples of triumphant partnerships between local businesses and ride groups.
