Anyone else still occasionally run into the dreaded corrupted CD adn need to pull data off it? I recently had to resurrect some old audio files from a CD-R I burned years ago, and it was a pain. Standard file copying just kept erroring out.

After some digging, I had decent luck wiht specialized data recovery software. I tried a couple of free options first, like some of the ones that focus on multimedia files, but eventually landed on a paid tool that seemed to handle the error correction better. The key was getting it to read the disc sector by sector and skip over the really damaged parts, then trying to piece the rest together.

I’m curious, what are your go-to methods for retrieving data from scratched or corrupted CDs? Are there any specific programs you swear by,or any hardware tricks you use? Is it even worth the effort these days,or am I just holding onto outdated technology for sentimental reasons?
