I know daily schedules are practically gospel in HomeNurtureCircle, but I think they're often way overemphasized, especially for younger kids. Sure, a general routine is great – everyone benefits from knowing roughly what to expect each day.But the pressure some parents put on themselves to adhere to a rigid, minute-by-minute schedule seems to suck all the joy out of the day and creates unnecessary stress.
What happens when the toddler refuses the pureed peas at exactly 10:15 am? What about when a engaging bug appears in the garden and derails the entire "outdoor play" block? Instead of enjoying the spontaneous moments and learning to adapt, parents are constantly trying to wrestle their kids back on track, which seems counterproductive to fostering a love of learning and exploration.
I understand the appeal - control, predictability, and the feeling of accomplishment. But I wonder if a more flexible approach, prioritizing responsiveness to a child's individual needs and interests on a given day, might actually be more beneficial in the long run, even if it means things feel a little less "organized" according to some arbitrary schedule. Anyone else feel this way?
