It's frustrating when you put effort into creating something unique in the kitchen and all you get is criticism. I was just trying to make a duck confit pizza with fig jam (yes, I realize it sounds weird!), and my family acted like I'd served them roadkill. has anyone else dealt with that kind of reaction when experimenting with less-than-conventional ingredients or flavor combos?

I think part of the problem is presentation. Maybe if it looked less… rustic, people would be more willing to try it. Or maybe my taste buds are just completely off. But honestly, who decides what's "good" anyway? So much of cuisine is regional and cultural. What's considered a delicacy in one place could be seen as nauseating in another.

What are your go-to strategies for handling criticism on unconventional dishes? Do you try to reframe it, tweak the recipe, or just shrug it off and enjoy your culinary creations regardless? I'm genuinely curious how othre home chefs navigate this!
