Anyone else feeling completely burned out by the pressure to make every meal look like it belongs on a magazine cover? Social media, Instagram especially, has turned food into this constant performance. It's not enough to just enjoy eating anymore; it has to be aesthetically pleasing, perfectly lit, and artfully arranged.
I find myself spending way more time styling food than actually cooking or, you know, eating it. I used to enjoy experimenting with new recipes and flavors, but now it feels like I'm just chasing the perfect shot. I even almost burned a simple grilled cheese the other day because I was too busy trying to get the perfect cheese pull picture.
Is it just me, or has this performative food culture sucked some of the joy out of cooking and eating? I'm seriously considering deleting Instagram just to reclaim my meals. Anyone have tips for resisting the urge to "gram" everything you eat?
