Anyone else find it surprisingly difficult to maintain even basic gentlemanly behavior in today's world? I'm not talking about some archaic, Downton Abbey level of etiquette, but just simple things like holding doors open, offering your seat, or even just consistently using "please" and "thank you." It feels like everyone is just constantly rushing and hyper-focused, making even these small gestures feel… out of place, or even worse, like an inconvenience to them.

I try to hold the door for someone entering a coffee shop, and they practically sprint through, barely acknowledging it. another time, offering my seat on the train to someone who looked tired resulted in a confused look and a mumbled refusal. Are people so used to prioritizing efficiency and speed that courtesy is becoming a casualty?

It's not about expecting accolades, but it's disheartening when actions intended as respectful are met with indifference or even suspicion. Maybe it’s just me overthinking things, but I wonder if the rapid pace of modern life is eroding some of the fundamental niceties that used to make society a little more pleasant. Is there a way to navigate this without feeling like a relic of the past, or am I just tilting at windmills here? What are your experiences with this?
