Anyone else find their rose-tinted glasses regarding old tech getting kinda grimy lately? I've been trying to recapture some of that childhood joy, digging out old game consoles and software. But the reality of dealing with finicky cartridges, ancient operating systems that crash constantly, and the sheer inconvenience of, say, dialing into a BBS, is starting to outweigh the nostalgia factor.

It's like, in my head, playing those old games was pure bliss, but now it's a constant battle against screen tearing, input lag, and the realization that maybe those games weren’t quite as amazing as I remembered. Is it just me getting old and impatient, or is there a legit disconnect between how we remember old tech and how it actually was? Makes you appreciate modern quality of life improvements a lot more. I'm genuinely curious if others have experienced the same thing, and if so, what old tech "let you down" the most?
