I'm curious about peopel's luggage preferences specifically for navigating cities. I'm planning a trip that involves a lot of walking, public transport, and perhaps some cobblestone streets. I'm torn between a soft-shell and a hybrid suitcase.
Soft-shell luggage seems lighter and more forgiving when trying to squeeze it into tight spaces like overhead bins on trains, or even just cramped hotel rooms. The external pockets also seem really useful for quick access to things like water bottles or maps while you're on the go. However, I worry about durability, especially in crowded situations where it might get banged around.
Hybrid luggage, with its partially hard shell, seems like a good compromise between the protection of a hard case and the versatility of a soft case. But does that partial hard shell make it significantly heavier or bulkier than a pure soft-shell? Ultimately, I’m looking for something durable enough to withstand city travel but also easy to maneuver and not a burden to carry. What are your experiences with either type of luggage in similar situations? Any recommendations based on your travels?
