Headed on a multi-week trip through Southeast Asia soon, and really debating the luggage situation. I keep going back and forth between a soft-sided duffel with backpack straps and a hard-sided suitcase. on one hand, the hard-sided seems way more durable and protective, especially for camera gear. It would also stack easier on buses, probably.

But then I think about navigating crowded streets and hostels. A soft-sided bag could be shoved into smaller spaces, and the backpack straps mean I could actually carry it with both hands free when needed, which seems crucial.

anyone have strong opinions or experiences either way for adventure travel, especially in situations where you're moving around a lot and dealing with varying transportation and accommodation? Am I overthinking this, or is choosing the right bag actually a game-changer?
