Anyone else feel like modern collectible toys, even the really high-end ones, are just...missing something? I'm not sure if it's just pure nostalgia goggles, but when I look at my older toys, even the ones that are pretty beat up, they seem to have more character then anything coming out today. Maybe it’s the imperfections, the slightly wonky paint apps, or the simpler designs. Take, for example, original Star Wars figures versus the Black Series. The originals feel like toys, made to be played with, with a sense of charm. The Black Series figures are incredibly detailed and posable, but they almost feel more like miniature statues - impressive but sterile. Is it just the mass production and the drive for perfect accuracy sucking the fun out of things? Or is my childhood just skewing my perception? What are your thoughts?
