Hear me out: I think vintage toys should be played with, not just treated like museum pieces. I know, I know, some of them are incredibly rare and valuable, but isn't the point of a toy to be enjoyed? Seeing a pristine, never-opened action figure from the 80s is cool, but imagining the adventures a kid took it on is even cooler.
I'm not saying you should let your toddler go to town on a mint-condition Star Wars figure, obviously. But a gently used toy with some history, a few scuffs and maybe a bit of play wear? That's character! Plus, playing with vintage toys can be a great way to connect with the past and maybe even share a piece of your childhood with a younger generation. I think it's a shame that so many awesome toys are just sitting in boxes, untouched, when they could be bringing joy to someone again. Am I alone in this? What's everyone's take on actually using your vintage collectibles?
